(Werkmeister by Baumfalk, 2018) If you want to try to grow a pure Aril, this is the one. Icy blue with a diffused olive yellow spot. Eisblau blooms very early, with the MDBs, but stands about 16" tall in our garden. 3-4 buds per stalk give it a longer than normal bloom season.

We grow this in a bed with 3" of fine pea gravel that allows super drainage. Still, we get a lot of rain from September to June and Eisblau does not seem to care.

We received Eisblau from our good friend Elm Jensen several years ago. We planted it with much trepidation, and a lot of prayers. It increased faster and bloomed better than our regular bearded iris so quickly won our affection.
