Intersectional Cross, or Itoh peonies are amazing garden plants. A minimum of care will supply you with a glorious spring show for many generations.
Simply put, Itoh peonies are derived from a cross between a herbaceous peony (P. lactiflora) and a tree peony (P. suffructosa). Named for Toichi Itoh who is widely regarded as the first person to successfully make the cross.
Itoh peonies are the best of both worlds. Large, boldly colored, and often fragrant flowers over beautiful, herbaceous-like foliage. And... the stems are generally strong enough to hold the flowers without support.
Hardy to zones 3 through 8.
